Pupin Lecture Hall, Columbia University
Renovation of a 300-seat lecture hall to serve the specialized requirements of the Physics and Astronomy departments. The work included advanced audiovisual systems, multi-mode lighting, new HVAC, and acoustical treatment. Innovative counter-balanced chalkboards provide maximum area of shadow-free writing surface. Borrowing technology from the firm's theater work, BFA designed motorized overhead rigging to enable the physicists to set up large scale scientific demonstrations.
