    The firm’s first overseas commission, this 23,000 sf building was designed and built for the music department of a private college in Gifu Prefecture, Japan. The facility houses classroom and performance spaces, practice rooms, musical instrument labs, and a roof garden.

    BFA’s design for the building was calibrated to honor the principles of Kanso, which emphasizes purity and simplicity. Sleek and minimally modern throughout, its exterior materials include concrete, glass, ceramic tile, and perforated metal. The firm worked in close collaboration with the architecture and engineering departments of Tsuchiya Gumi, a distinguished construction management company based in Ogaki and Tokyo, to realize the project.
